U. of C. Laboratory High School Kovler Gymnasium gargoyle benches: I have carved 3 limestone benches to go in the hallway of this new gym. Each bench has two athletic gargoyles as legs, supporting a six foot stone seat. |

| Installation of this first bench took place in Dec. 2001. The students watched and pronounced it "cool". The remaining two were installed in Oct. 2002. | |
This
weightlifter is bench pressing a carved stone dumbbell. It was an interesting
challenge to carve an upside down face grimacing with the strain of the weights.

The
ends of the seat are carved with gothic flowers and grotesque faces.
