I love creating fireplaces. I view them as sculpture built into a room, designed to be appropriate for the family and the home. Some of these fireplaces are installed in new homes, others added when existing rooms are remodeled. Since I've carved so many fireplaces, I have several pages showing and explaining them. I specialize in creating and carving unique, original designs.

Rustic country fireplace in Walnut Travertine

61-T Provincial fireplace in Travertino Noce (Italian Walnut Travertine), an unusual rustic dark brown stone.
The stone has unusual formations and inclusions, with some details seeming like the inside of a grotto or cavern.

About my fireplaces:

I create these unique mantelpieces in any style, from classical to Tudor, from Baroque to contemporary. Each fireplace is custom carved from natural stone or marble. These are not "cast stone" (which is precast concrete with stone dust mixed in) or "cultured marble" (a polymer, which is a plastic or fiberglass like material).

Prices are not listed because my work is not standardized or mass production. Every home is different and every block of stone is different. Every design can be modified and customized, and carved in different sizes or types of stone. In most cases I create new custom designs for each fireplace I carve. The photos on this site are fireplaces which I have created for my clients' homes. Write and let me know the style and size you need and I will be happy to accommodate you.

Large fireplace with romanesque columns Original design ©stonecarver.com 42-K

Large limestone fireplace with ornately carved Romanesque capitals, a classical entablature and an unusual arched opening. The medallions above the capitals and on the side returns were a custom design created for this client. I also carved two large medallions of the same design for the exterior of the home.
